Organisers Comments:
I was worried before the event about car parking and the running of the start and registration, but thanks to all work by the willing helpers on the day everything ran smoothly.
I would like to thank all those of you who came to run and put up with the atrocious weather without complaint. Everyone returned safely and no one showed symptoms of hypothermia.

Controllers Comments:
Nick had produced some pleasing courses within the confines of the forest. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Apologies to those of you on the brown course that were thrown by the difference between the loose control description sheet and the number of control 11 on the map and the ground. This was the result of combining the two parts of the description sheet to give the overall loose list. I hope it did not spoil the day for you.
One of the pleasures of controlling an event is that you often get to see the forest at its best, in the sunshine and when it is quiet. I have some very pleasant memories of my earlier visits and especially on Saturday in the warm sunshine!

Planner's Comments:Ashclyst in Winter normally means mud, but the Sunday of the event was exceptional ! My aim was to offer legs off the paths where possible, but the options were limited by the blocks of fight in the middle, and the extensive path network drawing competitors to it. The Wednesday afternoon before the event, after the maps were printed, I had a call from the National Trust asking us not to use a particular control site because of butterfly larvae. Hence the deletion of a control on Blue & Green. This was my first time planning using the SI kit. Personally I am in favour of a lower effort approach for club events along the lines of those promoted by John Ceely a couple of years ago - master maps & pin punches !! My thanks go to Susan Hateley for helpful advice on the courses, to Susan & Roger for helping with control placing & collection, and to Steve Rose for winding up the computer. And last but not least, to you all for coming !
