Organisers
CommentsLiz and Dave Bramley would like to thank all those people who helped at the event. Thanks to all
who came especially those new to orienteering. We hope to see you again at another event.
Planners Comments
I found the planning options
at Core Copse rather limited. Particularly when
quite late on we established that the central
fields were not available and clay pigeon
shooting would be in progress on the day. I had
also planned to take the longer courses through
the NE corner where the map shows some white
corridors, but on the ground they are impassable
with brambles and wind-blown trees.
Brown did a circuit around
the fields and back for a second short loop. Blue
went across the Northern valley but then the only
route back was across the same valley resulting
in more climb for Blue than Brown. Also, of all
the courses, Blue proved too long, even at 6.4km,
with first 3 average of 77mins and the majority
over 90mins apologies for those who felt
the pain.
Also apologies for the pit (75)
on longer courses. After discussion with the
Controller, we left the flag in the pit because
if it poked above, it would have been visible for
100m, and because there were relocation features
of earthwall and veg. boundary at hand.
More apologies - to
Dave Livsey and Graham Dugdale, who having helped
on a long first shift, did not have time to
complete their courses. In Daves case I
miscalculated times and one of our speedy juniors
was collecting a control in the SW corner before
the 2.30 course closure.
But I hope everyone else
enjoyed their day in the Spring weather.
