| Thanks to everybody for coming to Haldon
yesterday. It was good to see some sunshine at
last! The rain in previous
weeks had encouraged vegetation growth so
courses that looked short and quick at
Registration turned out to be a bit of a veg-fest
in practice! However it was nice for rookie
planner Matt Atkins that competitors were
complimentary about his courses.
A number of newcomers turned
up to the event. I hope that you enjoyed it and
will come again.
I am grateful for the help
of Devon club members all of whom know
what they are doing and just get on with the job
in hand. Thank you all. And thanks too to
controller Mike Cullen who ensured the event was
fair and enjoyable for everyone.
The Haldon forest rangers
were very supportive. What a busy forest on a
bright Sunday morning! Our prior concerns about
competitors being mown down by mountain bikers
proved thankfully to be unfounded. We did however
have a worry about a little girl overdue on the
White course, and club members (including the
Torquay lads) swung into action to look for her.
Fortunately she turned up safe and sound.
