The site is now linked to British Orienteering’s Junior Ozone, where younger orienteers can discover all sorts of useful information and ideas about orienteering. There are even some orienteering games to play.

Permanent Courses

With the aid of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, Devon County Council have contracted the implementation of two new permanent orienteering courses (POC) in Devon, and the updating of two more.

The courses are at:

Killerton Park (10km North of Exeter) - A National Trust property with permanent courses suitable for schools, families, and experienced orienteers. Opened Easter 2007.

Haldon Forest Park (10km South of Exeter) - A brand new permanent course on Forestry Commission land. Part of a major overhaul of  visitor facilities available to the general public and school groups. Recent forestry work has compromised some of the controls. Please see the site page for details

Cookworthy Forest (Nr Holsworthy) - A brand new permanent course on Forestry Commission land on maps specially drawn for a recent major orienteering competition. Courses now open, and printed maps are available on site

Exeter Riverside Valley Park - An updating of the course based on the Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre on the banks of the River Exe and the Exeter Canal, right in the heart of Exeter. The missing/damaged Control Posts 1 and 5 have now been replaced. 25 Jun 08

Other Permanent Courses in Devon

There is also an established permanent course at:

Central Park Plymouth - The courses have been redesigned, and the Plymouth City Council Parks Dept are in the process of putting out the new marker posts. Until that is completed, the old courses are suspended and all information has been removed. It is anticipated that the revised courses will be on the web site by mid to late Sep 08.
